My topic today would be to Stop Lookin Back. It’s definitely easier said than done.

We tend to look back because we are conditioned that way. When we were younger, our parents will tell us stories that begin with “Once upon a time….”. Hence, that’s how we live our lives. We place high importance in what happened in the past.

We tend to remember past achievements, who we were, who we loved in the past, who loved us in the past, friends that we have had in the past, how skinny we used to be. We blog about the past, we go through our facebook walls, we looked back at past photos and suddenly we feel sad at the thought of losing what we used to have in the past.

One fact remains the same. THE PAST IS GONE and we will NEVER GET THEM BACK.

As quoted in The Lion King, “it’s in the past, it doesn’t matter anymore”.

What matters is TODAY. Who you are is not who you were in the past. It’s who you are today and what you want to be!

I have found myself crying over the past that I could never change, over the people that I have met in the past and could never meet again, over the love I have lost in the past, over the career that I had in the past.

But now, it’s time to change all that. Life begins NOW. No matter how hard I cried, I could never get back the past glory. BUT, the PRESENT is still mine and not anyone’s to take. I am now in the path of re-defining myself and the person that I want to be in future. Old relationships are lost but it’s now time to create new ones. Old career is gone but it’s time to learn new skills and achieve success and glory in this new career. Old colleagues are gone but new colleagues are around me and they really are nice people. Time to truly enjoy the gift of the Present. Life begins at 27 for me! Alhamdulilah! All praises to Allah.

Jangan pandang belakang. Bunyinya macam filem seram jer kan?..Sebenarnya topik harini ialah berhenti mengingati masa lampau. Memang bunyinya macam senang tapi nak membuatnya, sangatlah susah.

Kita dah dididik sejak dari kecil yang segalanya berkisar tentang masa lampau. Semua cerita yang mak dan ayah kita cerita mesti bermula dengan “Pada zaman dahulu….”. Jadi, kita semua dah terdidik, kalau bercerita, mesti tentang masa lampau. Lagu-lagu pun ditulis tentang masa lampau. Lagu cinta terutamanya selalu tentang kisah sedih cinta yang telah hilang. Jadi, kita pun terpengaruh dan mula lalai dibuai masa lampau bila kita dengar lagu-lagu ini.

Kita selalu teringat kejayaan kita masa lalu, kawan-kawan yang kita pernah rapat, kekasih yang pernah kita cintai, kerja yang telah kita tinggalkan dan sbgnya. Kita check balik wall facebook kita, gambar2 yang pernah kita ambil bersama rakan-rakan, dan lepas tu kita terasa sedih mengenangkan betapa kita merindui saat-saat itu.

Faktanya cuma satu: Masa lampau tu dah BERLALU dan kita tidak akan sekali-kali mendapatkannya semula.

Dah banyak airmata yang telah dititiskan untuk masa lampau yang tak mungkin dapat diubah, kawan-kawan yang telah putus hubungan, masa-masa indah percintaan bersama bekas kekasih, kerja yang telah ditinggalkan.

Tapi, masa lampau tu tetap tak kembali padaku. Sepatah kata watak dalam kartun Lion King “Benda tu dah berlalu. Dah takde maknenye lagi”.

Jadi, aku pun bertekad untuk berubah. Apa guna memikirkan perkara yang memang takde apa-apa lagi?. Yang paling penting adalah HARI INI, SEKARANG!

SEKARANG adalah milik aku untuk mengubahnya. Aku masih boleh menjadi siapa yang aku mahu jadi. Aku masih boleh membuat kawan-kawan baru, membina kerjaya yang baru dan mencari cinta baru dalam hidupku. Aku akan bersungguh-sungguh untuk menikmati masa SEKARANG sebab SEKARANG adalah anugerah terindah.

Hidupku bermula KINI. Alhamdulilah. Aku janji pada diri aku untuk berhenti memandang belakang dan terus melangkah ke hadapan!. InsyaAllah!
